My Depeche Mode affection has lasted for over 30 years now. Somehow they failed to disappoint me. While the new album has nothing new in terms of the music, the guys are still delivering the truth.

I've followed this act since it's earliest days and watched them slowly devolve into a very morose act. Gone are the light feel tunes replaced by worthy but depressing themes that don't lend themselves to escapist music. Even a song like Personal Jesus would lift your "spirit" upon listening. Now I feel like I'm listening to a group forged in Siberia. I don't think that this recording bears it's name very well unless your talking about a ghost, which this album is definitely is for this once proud, creative band.

This is one big political statement. They sound like a bunch of whine bags who decided to write an album and complain about everything. I have the new OMD and it is awesome, they decided to actually produce a good album unlike these guys. Go back to the drawing board. Would give it zero stars if I could.

Having every Depeche Mode main release I would put this in the middle of the batch. After listening to it numerous times over the last two weeks there really aren't any go-to songs. I don't find myself singing out loud any of them. Some are too slow and others too mundane to like.

If you like Depeche Mode , this is a good effort. They were big decades ago, welcome back.
