I bought these headphones based on careful comparison of published specifications, and I must say my first purchase of Denon equipment has left me very impressed with the brand. I was already considering Denon for an upcoming Home-Theater Receiver purchase, and my experience here will almost certainly contribute to that decision. Note to Denon: I am available for home-based consumer testing, kthxbai. The main specifications I looked at when making my headphone purchasing decision were frequency response and efficiency. The specified 5HZ-33KHZ frequency response is amazing (far in excess of the 20HZ-20KHZ that the ear can hear), while the listed 105db sensitivity mean they will play louder with the same level of power input...or at the same sonic level with reduced volume, which will help to save battery power in mobile devices. They are also designed to handle very high levels of power input, so it is surprising to me that the relatively low power output of an iPod is able to drive them.....it does, and well. I use these at work with an iPod Touch. The environment I work in is quite noisy, and for safety reasons I can only listen to music in one ear; the Apple earbuds do not fit my ears and keep falling out, and were underpowered and hard to hear. It's not very productive when you have one hand busy trying to keep an earbud shoved as deeply into your ear canal as humanly possible. I need both hands for work. From first listen with the DN-HP1000s I was hooked. The bass response and low frequency extension in particular is the best I've heard; far and away surpassing the anemic Apple earbuds, yet still balanced and not overpowering. Also, with the Apple earbuds, I had to have the volume constantly maxed to compete with the noise pollution of my work environment. With the Denons I can comfortably set the volume at about 70-75% to save battery life, and with better results. My work environment is also somewhat rough, and the overbuilt joints on these headphones lead me to believe they will have a good chance to survive whatever unintentional pounding they may receive. I won't get into further specifics, as I am no audiophile and with my high level of hearing loss what sounds good to me might not sound good to other people. I will say, however, that these are VERY pleasing to my ear and recommend that you give them a listen to find out if they are pleasing to yours. The only downsides I can find to these units after a month of listening is their sheer size, and if you need to tilt your head back to look straight up, they may fall off; in that case one hand to hold them on your head is recommended. Also, the headband could be a slight bit softer but is not really an issue. A nice side benefit of the swivel earpieces is that when you need to place the headphones around your neck, you can swivel the earpieces so that the ear cups lay flat against your chest for a lower profile and so they don't choke you. This may be a problem if you are an.......endowed......woman, but in that case this may be easily solved by providing me with your phone number :wink:Read full review
I have over 10 sets of DJ headphones. The Denon Super HD-1000 is best I ever heard. The quality is great and very stylish. When I'm using them they sound like magic. I'll never going to by another pair of headphones again. The Denon Super HD-1000 is all I need.

while everyone was/is clamoring to beats, I graduated from a worn pair of sony's to these. in my opinion, the swivel on the ear cups is what makes these phones stand out, for those who do a lot of mixing as well as interacting while doing, these can't be beat. And oh yeah, for the casual music listener, these phones allow you to hear all that bass you like so much. Mine are on their last leg, I found a seller of a mint condition pair on Ebay & had to get them. I will probably buy another pair for when these wear down. I challenge you to find a better pair of phones for djing and general purpose use.
It was exactly how it was described and pictured. I can’t believe I got such a great deal on these headphones and they are brand new!! They also arrived earlier then expected!
