I have owned Denon AVR's for many, many years. This unit was of interest because it switches HDMI as well as retaining S-video and Red/Blue/Green rca inputs so older devices can plug in. I bought and returned an O---o receiver that sounded fine, but they had abandoned S-video input, and the amp sent out interrupted audio for several seconds when TV signals varied in format sent as it recognized and "caught up" to the change. Denons don't do like that. Comparing a Denon to these wannabee receiver/switchers is to compare a Mercedes to a Toyota. In my second theater area I have taken the AVR-3803 this unit replaced and put it back in action. I simply plug the component video output of the 3803 into a lesser amp that has hdmi upconversion and enjoy the good Denon sound plus now, added digital video. Perfectly good $130.00 solution to the need for hdmi . If I had thought of this answer sooner, I may not have bought this AVR 2307, but all factors considered I'm happy I did. One of the top of the basic line of Denon, or the first of the top line of Denon, is the same that the AVR-887 electronics, only are diferent the front face, the strongest thing of this models are the HDMI support, Neural Surround system & that are XM ready, it have 5 digital inputs, 3 opt & 2 Coaxial, the RS-232 control port & that the front face are aluminium made. The bad news are that are powerless than I spect from Denon, it can't be used with large speakers to take advantage of it, it's better to work with powered sub & small speakers, because by the other way you may obtain a lot of peak distortion.
Regarding AVR-2307CI, This Receyver Amplifier push lot of power and is installed with Klipsh Surround system, I purchase this because the newones are so expensive and compare to this don't provide the sufficient power and is a replacement of my old Denon amplifier that was burn. Now my system is restored in a very good deal. even this amplifier don't came with the latest technology like pandora an all new stuff, with the iphone accesories and applications you don't need the newest amplifier in the market, but better than this you need something that can satisfy your needs. The unit shipped promptly, but I had reservations because it had been dented like it had been dropped. But the install went well and it worked great. This is a replacement for the same model I have that failed.

This receiver has good features, but the set-up is difficult. Once you've mastered the set-up, the system perfoms admirable. I recommend you use the "lock" feature once you're satisfied with the setting, because if you decide to tinker with them later you could have a mess on your hands and have to redo the set-up.
