I bought my 75 watt Denon AVR-1707 receiver back in '09 but I hadn't really used it much until I bought a pair of Wharfedale Denton 80th's and hooked them up to it. Wow! What great sound! Much better sound than Denon's entry-level S540BT that I bought a few years ago.. Although the features on the older set is antiquated compared to the newer model, the 1707 is a better performer with music and I'm kind of a fussy customer. The unit probably wouldn't adequately push power-hungry speakers but it would likely be a fine option for those with reasonably efficient ones. Recommended!

Great receiver!!! I never use a subwoofer in my setup, and always set all speakers to large (including the center). I think it's the only way to test and push the receivers to their limits. This one did an ok job powering a set of JBL E100's, but did an awesome job powering the E100's when taking advantage of the 1707's bi-amp feature. On top of that I was using the JBL EC35 center and the E50's for rears, and in dolby digital this setup sounded amazing!! I watched numerous movies and concert dvd's at a very high volume with the 1707, and for the price you can get this receiver, you'll be amazed with what you got. Easy to navigate through the menu's. Neutral surround is awesome for music. Remote is better than i thought, isn't cheap like the photo's make it look, there is a panel which flips open to reveal a load of more buttons to tweak your settings from your seat. Same opinion on this Denon that I have on all the others, *@$#% awesome!!!Read full review
This has to be one of the Best receivers I ever had. I have 2 12" Subs connected to a Boss1100M Monoblock amp into this receiver and what a different on the Bass sounds. For the money, you'll be glad you got one!

Bought this unit after a older Denon went south on me. This newer unit is simply incredible. More channels for surround sound, ore power and a balancing feature that is great.
I bought this receiver "dead", to use it for a project. I wanted to use the power transformer the caps the sink and the case to build an amplifier, then I realized that I can fix it. I like this receiver any way, especially now and I hope that soon I can use all of the features it provides.
