I had no idea Denise Austin was so doable but challenging. I love the way she gives instruction her prompts are really comforting. I don't feel intimidated and i can do modifications when i need too. I like the flow of her transition moves, her warm up and stretching is really effective. I have lost a few inches which is the barometer of all shape up dvd's. Denise has been in the business a long time she has workouts with everything from kettlebell style, to pilates, yoga, dance and fusion of cardio and weights that's alot and she does movements that are acesiblet to each viewer or exerciser.
Its 20 min of cardio and 20 min strength, with 10 min stretch. The cardio is good, but they put the abs at the end of it. I would have liked the abs in the strength training. The strength training is mostly lunges/squats, with some weights. You need more upper body, so I add my own back/chest exercises at the end. I'd give it a 4 if the arm segment was longer. If you dont have her Personal Training dvd, I would buy that one over this one. It is much longer and has 3 levels of fitness on it. Really long arms/abs sections too.
I do both workouts in the morning- it takes about 40 mins and keeps my body strong and toned! It's perfect and not difficult at all.

I love this workout. The level of complexity is not too high and the level of exertion is just right for a full body workout. I have tried other videos and found them either too easy or in the alternative, too impossible to follow. Also, this one doesn't require that you have a lot of room to move around in. The video includes both cardio and strength training, and it has a lot of segments so there isn't any monotony. Highly recommend.
Overall, I love this DVD. If I can't get in the whole 50 minutes, I can still do one of the 20 minute segments and feel like I had a workout. My favorite is the strength training segment and my least favorite is the flexibility segment. Usually I really enjoy Denise Austin's flexibility segments but this one left me feeling like something was missing. This DVD as a whole may be too much for a beginner, but it is do able if you break it into the 20 min. segments.
