Dell is a venerable brand for monitors and I've loved their monitors. However, be advised that the first iteration of a new design is for guinea pigs and early adopters (and that's applicable to any great company), so I would not recommend this iteration - the UP3214Q. The new version (UP3216Q) is definitely the one to go for. This first version is full of buggy firmware and incompatibilities that arise either from the drivers of graphics cards (that support DisplayPort 1.2 and 4K at 60fps) as well as the monitor itself. When I bought the monitor, I connected it to a docking station of my HP Elitebook that supports DisplayPort 1.2 and 4K resolution at 60fps. 1- When the monitor goes in power save mode and you try to wake it up, the display ends up crashing and showing either 2 seperate identical distorted screens, or garbage, or a single screen with far lower resolution (scaled and distorted). 2- Occasionally, during any video motion (such as playing a game or watching a movie), you feel that there are 2 seperate screens on the monitor, each one syncing with the video information at slight intervals which distorts the image. This can be occasionally corrected by turning the monitor off and on. I've tried to use this monitor as a secondary display to an iMac 5K Retina computer (2014). The first issue goes away but the second issue still persists (and can be corrected). It seems that this fantastic display is out of its time and compatibility (with driver support from graphics card manufacturers, and hardware OEMs) need to catch up. It also reflects a problem intrinsic and deep-down with the PC ecosystem: Every innovation is kept behind because it depends on all OEMs out there to support it through drivers. Which is why I would stick with the Apple ecosystem, if it weren't for my company-policy for using PCs.Read full review
