Worked fine as is on my A88X-Pro motherboard. As the other reviewer mentioned, some motherboards may need the B5 and B6 PCIE pins blocked to work. The only issue I had was unrelated to the card. Apparently some newer HGST drives need the 3rd sata power pin blocked when using some but not all connectors, or they won't spin up. Since some of you may use these cards with HGST drives, it shouldn't hurt to mention this here and save you some hours of searching for a solution and thinking their is a problem with the card. Here's a pdf with a list of which drives have this surprise feature. search for "HGST-Power-Disable-Pin-TB.pdf" See included photo, the 3.3v pins in orange can all be covered.

theartofserver did a great job with getting this ready for ZFS and has been performing great. This is a Dell Perc card, so as others have said, you may need to cover pins B5 (SMCLK, SMBus clock) an B6 (SMDAT, SMBus data) on the PCI card edge if you are using a desktop mobo. Google these terms for a guide. Highly recommended!

Awesome product. Exactly what I needed. Without zero hiccups. I was able to put together a new server build with this modified HBA and the OS picked up all drives immediately. Adding new drives to my ZFS pool was just as easy.

Works great with linux (there are good commandline tools available to work with these cards.) I had to erase the BIOS (not the firmware) to get these to work in all PCIe slots on my particular motherboard. I am running 16 disks off of a pair of these cards (some in RAID5 under linux, some ZFS.) No problems recognizing drives that were formatted before in other systems (IE. HBA IT-mode does not write any data to the disk itself or hide any sectors unlike some other cards I have tried.)

There were some changes that I needed to make to the card that's of no fault to the seller. My target system's BIOS was incompatible with the option ROM of the card (symptom was lots of ASCII garbage printed to the screen), so I reflashed IT mode without the option ROM to resolve that. Additionally, I had to block out PCIE pins B5 and B6 otherwise my system would not POST. Both of these fixes are well documented online if anyone reading this experiences these issues.
