Got this to replace a laptop that has Windows 8.1 as OS. This works so much better! It doesn't have all the "bells & whistles" that the newer laptops have, but you can actually get on the internet without waiting 5 minutes for things to load! Has what you need, when you need it. I answered "no" to: Does it have long battery life?, because there was not a box for "NA". I don't really know if it does or doesn't; I didn't get it to carry around, it stays on the table, plugged in, so it works just fine, for me. I will stick with Windows 7 for as long as MS has it!! Wish they weren't going to faze it out.

Buyer beware, if you want a Dell D-series laptop do your research and make sure it does not have an nVidia graphics chip. Dell laptops with nVidia GPU's are so prone to motherboard failure due to the graphics chip overheating that this model, among many others with nVidia GPU's, were the subject of a class-action lawsuit. Note, Intel GPU's were not involved in the class action suit, only nVidia's. This would have been a great value unit if it had the Intel graphics chip. Mine ran about an hour then the system blacked out after it reported issues with the graphics driver, the device manager revealed that the chip was the dreaded nVidia, and a diagnostic utility revealed the cooking GPU chip. The Black Screen of Permanent Death followed shortly after.
I recently purchased this computer to replace one of the same model I already owned. Part of the internal workings of my old computer died. I took my old hard drive and WIFI module and put into the "new" computer. It worked without problem and I was able to retrieve all my operating system, old files, favorites, and pictures. This is a hard working, tough machine. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a computer on a low budget that will stand up to some abuse and heavy use.
Purchase was necessitated by Microsoft's decision not to support XP. That's what I had on my office computers. Was NOT happy with Microsoft and refused to spend unnecessary moneys for new laptops and Windows 8. So, I shopped for a refurb with Windows 7 Professional. This was my second purchase from the Seller. I ordered the Dell 630 laptop Sat evening and promptly received it the following Monday morning (one working day). Great buy. Not only was it promptly delivered, but it is an excellent refurb - like new. The OS alone was worth the purchase price, and it was already updated. I didn't have to spend hours updating the OS. I saved the seller as a favorite. My only complaint was the unit had adware installed which made browsing difficult. Pop-ups were everywhere. IE Explorer pop up blocker was ineffective. I understand that probably allowed the Seller to give me such a great price, but it was a serious problem. A trial version of Kaspersky removed it promptly after others failed to do so (PC Mechanic, AVG, MS Security Essentials). I recommend this Seller (and Kaspersky, which I have on all my units).Read full review
