When a marriage disintegrates, just how far will a couple go to inflict damage on each other? What if the death of one of the spouses is part of and not the end of the quest for vengeance? Their great aunt has died and left her estate to her female relatives. Since she was their aunt by a late marriage to their eccentric uncle, the nieces who are her heiresses have taken her presence in their lives for granted and not inquired about her personal history. Now they learn that she was a famous photographer in her youth and that she was acquitted of the murder of her first husband some sixty years previously. What really happened at that weekend gathering at the first husband's country estate sixty years ago? One of the nieces feels she must determine her great aunt's innocence or guilt for herself before she can accept her inheritance.Read full review
This is a book that I have recommended to many friends for that rainy afternoon when tea and scones would make it all perfect! The book's vocabulary required me to focus on the first few pages, because the author uses a full measure of English, not just the short, easy words others use to appeal to the "masses." It was a treat to savor the fullness of Ms. Ironside's writing.
