Great book! You will learn more about the relationship between Jerry & Dean than the rumours spread over the years. It appears they didn't "hate" each other after the partnership ended; they just ended all contact but still cared for each other like brothers (evident by Jerry's paying for lyrics for Dean to have a hit record but keeping it a secret). You will also learn about their early days in show business, how loved they were in this country, and the joy they brought everyone during hard times. Although a couple of the stories sound repetative, it is easy & enjoyable reading!
An interesting account of the Martin-Lewis partnership and the dynamics that forced it to end after 10 years. Of course this is Jerry Lewis' telling of the story, but it came across as being done with sincerity. Perhaps the only flaw was that there was the continuing theme of "what I did for Dean" throughout the chapters, sometimes subtle, sometimes not. Mr. Lewis related several mean things done to him by Mr. Martin in the later years of their relationship, but was quick to add that he suffered quietly throughout and still loved his recalcitrant partner. I believe that Mr. Lewis should have gone more into depth about his admitted megalomania, which was allowed a few vague references in the book as compared to the detailed analysis of Mr. Martin's alleged many faults. This would have more properly balanced and fairly explained the animosity and resentment leading to the breakup. All in all, the book was an enjoyable read, containing a lot of memories for those of us who grew up in that era and remembered the phenomenon of Martin and Lewis.Read full review
Great book! Well written. You can practically hear Jerry Lewis telling the story. A bitter sweet story.

A great book by one legend about another. A little self-serving but honest at the same time. Good read.

I have always been a fan since I was a kid. My husband loves Jerry. So I got it for him for Christmas. started reading right away. It just renewed our love for the team. I guess my dislike about the book is that I felt Jerry Lewis could of kept some of the personal things about Dean out of the book since Dean is no longer with us to defend himself. What I loved from the book is inside story of how they met and what happened that "accidently" created the team. And of corse... why they broke up...
