Another good, but not great, Tom Clancy novel bringing together Jack Ryan, Jr. and the Caruso brothers from The Campus with John Clark and Ding Chavez from Rainbow Six. Extremely long setup backstory builds up to a relatively quick and far too serendipitous "third act" resolution of the main plot lines. Same story probably could have been more effectively told with more suspense in several hundred fewer pages (it comes in at 848 pages). Clancy's thrillers typically feel more dense with insider detail of special ops than here, perhaps the stretched out feel is a product of the collaborative co-authorship arrangement? Worth reading by diehard Clancy fans needing more, but not really his best work, IMHO.
If you enjoy the Jack Ryan saga Dead or Alive is as good as it gets. I can not wait to turn the page .

A good read Gov. covert hit squad thriller.

The usual Clancy page turner, hard to put down once you start. The difference between pure Clancy and Clancy + Blackwood is noticeable but not objectionable.
