Dead Space is one of those games that just comes out of nowhere and really amazes you. The game has great graphics, storyline and controls. The story is very reminiscent to the movie Event Horizon. The guns are very original and fun to mess around with, with it adding to the game a bit of RPG type elements of upgrading armor and weaponry. Theres lot of action and moments that make you jump in the game. At first I was sort of hesitant on buying it due to not hearing much about it before hand, but I definately don't regret it. There's not really much I can complain about in the game. It's sort of a mix between Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill. The developers really did a great job in trying something new out mixing and combining elements to create a great game. If your looking for an suspensful action horror game you can't go wrong with Dead Space, it will not let you down. Dead Space Review for PS3 and 360 100% Must Buy! Best Survival Horror Game. Graphics- 10/10 Stunning graphics, If you don't like the game-play then buy it just for the visuals! Cut-scenes can compete,if not beat final fantasy. Smooth transitions in movement give the graphics an edge that makes the whole movement look like a cut-scene. I was honestly amazed. Gameplay- 8.5/10 Honestly im not a 3rd person fan, but this is still great! Smooth transitions in movement, easy to see your surroundings, perfect aim and shooting, awesome space levels. Interesting enemys, some are quite scary. They game focuses on dismemberment because the aliens are well armored. By far best survival horror game I have played. Story- 8.5/10 Storylines cool and all but... generic? You receive a distress call from a ship, you go out alone to check it out, you ship gets destroyed and your trapped on a alien infested ship alone and have to fight you way to safety.... yawn... cut-scenes make it worth it though. Online- 0/10 None, shame.Read full review
It is hard to find a starting spot for this review. You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer dispatched to the suddenly silent USG Ishimura, a space vessel specializing in massive-scale resource mining. When you arrive you find that everyone is dead and the crew isn't just dead, they are mutilated and dismembered. Enough of the story, now it's time for gameplay. This game will make you jump out of your seat, it is that spooky at times. The gameplay and weapons are really great. If you are a fan of survival horror games then you need to pick this game up. It is by far one of the top 3 most scary games I have ever played and I have played a lot of them. The sounds and background noises in this game will make your skin crawl, you never know when the next Necromorph will attack you and from what angle and how many pieces you will have to blast it in to make it quit coming after you. I think this game has a making for the 08 game of the year. This is a MUST buy if you like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, BioShock type games as it has twists from all of them.....in SPACE.Read full review
Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice – you feel as if you are on the ship with Isaac, and even in deep space. Though the levels look similar, you will see the immediate beauty of this game. It is a difficult thing to be consistent, yet differentiate enough to create an entire ship. Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the habitants of this game. A lot of time, and thought, went into putting in effective music, parts with no music, and the fell of being utterly alone. The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you go into space for the first time, and all you hear is your own breath and heartbeat. Gameplay: Spectacular – 9/10 Smooth animations, large – but intuitive levels, smart enemies and A.I., different possibilities for battles and puzzles – without giving anything away, this game is different, and in a good way. Fans of Bioshock and Resident Evil 4 will feel at home with this. The way you kill enemies is really unique, and fun. Replay Value – Good 7/10 Even without multiplayer, this game has replay value with the Impossible Difficulty, and they mean that. The only issues I have with the replay is that you will know where the “jump out points” are and will be expecting what will happen. Overall – Perfect 9/10 I am a fan of Survival Horror and the entire genre. When I play this game, I have to say that this isn’t so much survival horror on the Easy to Hard difficulty settings, being that there is plenty of ammo, stores, and save points, but survival Action. Think of this as a sci-fi movie, and that it is more like Aliens as opposed to Alien. The details and ideas that went in this game prove that risks are still being taken in game development, and they pay off. Though I say this is a “Survival Action” game, it is so much more. It feels as if it is a “best of” game – meaning that they take the best parts of many games such as Bioshock, Resident Evil 4, Prey, and other games that may fall into such a category. The use of in game story telling, and use of a item menu that is in game and in action, gives a whole new approach to playing the game. The game is not perfect, but close to. The map is annoying to use, and the use of where to go makes the game a bit easier, but for how the story is set up, it works. It is difficult for a company to release a new IP these days, and have it be successful, and I feel that Dead Space does just that. Enjoy playing this with the lights off. It creates its own genre. It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that EA games wanted to create a cinematic and different experience in a game – and make the horror genre prevalent again.Read full review
Dead Space Storyline- I loved the story, it was involving and logical (or at least as much as it could have been considering) while it was largely related to most other survival horrors it had a great deal of originality. And some well defined universe history, although it wasn’t really elaborated upon 20/20 Graphics – Fantastic and beautiful. It has to be the best that I have personally witnessed on the 360 to date. 10/10 Game play- The game controls ran almost flawlessly cutting off limbs to kill enimes was a great innovation and it was a nice twist on the old Headshot kills, now even if you shoot them in the head THEY JUST DON’T GO DOWN! But the controls were occasionally sluggish which could cause a death every so often. 14/15 Enjoy ability- THIS GAME A BLOODY BLAST! It is probably the best NON RPG game I have played in a good 3 years but sadly the last boss was the worst of the whole game, and that was kind of a letdown. But this game was just awesomely fun 20/20 Art direction- Fantastic, the world around you was a perfect blend of flesh and metal, blood and well more blood character movements impacted the suit you wore in such a way that you felt like you were watching yourself walk and fight. 10/10 Sound &VA- The sound was… LOUD but it was great it fit perfectly with the movements of the creatures people machinery and even yourself. The voices fit perfectly with the conversations, it was just fantastic. 10/10 Length- The game was as long as it needed to be to tell the necessary story, and you still want to play it again when you’re done. 15/15 Total-99/100 Bottom-line- This game is awesome, if you’re looking for a game to buy that you can beat in a week get it, if you’re looking for a game you can play for longer than a week get it, so I guess I’d say… JUST GET IT!Read full review
