Purchased this saw used, as the price was better than purchasing new or elsewhere. The unit received was in very good shape, showing some signs of usage, but not abused. I had compared other brands, which most seemed to have similar specs and reviews. The final determining points were very good rating on Dewalt, no matter where I looked, and I also have other Dewalt cordless tools utilizing the same battery. This meant I could save money buying a unit without charger and batteries. Battery life in this and similar saws using 18 Volt batteries also all appeared to be similar. You will not use these to cut all day unless you have several batteries, but for occasional cutting/trimming of trees, these saws are great. They allow you to work in a location without a A/C power source or needing to run drag cords from afar to power a regular saw. Personally, if near a regular power source, I will use my corded saw. The corded will run better all day long. This was purchased to allow trimming of tree branches, etc. at the far ends of my property. Purchased some H. F. blades and this setup does exactly what I bought it for.Read full review

The questions were asked in the wrong order. I like the saw but it seems to run extremely hot after a while compared to my old one. When your sawing and you can barely hold on to the saw because it is so hot something is not right. The section where the motor is where it gets hot. I'm going to keep using it till something happens. I hope that it isn't a rebuilt saw with faulty parts and I got stuck with spending money on something that I should have put into something new. I got it and I'll use it for now.First time I buy off ebay and I hope it wasn't a mistake. As for the three questions it should be asked in a different way.

I am a big DeWalt brand fan from way back. This is my first and only battery operated sawzall and I really like it for convenience of battery portability! All my battery tools use this same 18volt battery.

This saw is perfect for just about any small project or one of relatively short duration. It's plenty powerful to get through tough, thick material(s). I goes through a battery pretty quickly when being worked hard. Due to its light weight, it transmits vibration back to the user. I most recently used it to cut outlet box holes in baseboard with plaster and lathe behind it. The material was nearly 3 inches thick and very resistant. It worked great but I did eat up some carbide blades. (not the saw's fault). Highly recommended.

Just tried out this baby! Love it. It's got a good feel; solid, sturdy, powerful etc. I just used it to trim some branches. The thickest one was about 4" and I used a pruning blade (11" I think). I also made a bunch of branch slices for the smoker. The battery lasted about 25 to 30 cuts. I have a bunch of other plans for it so I'm glad I got it.
