I got this in Feb. For a low voltage general purpose work tool it really fit the bill. So far, I've drilled, screwed, reamed with it and, have had no problems. For general purpose and, around the house or the casual week end warrior DIY person. This is great. I would not recommend this for heavy duty work. The battery life just would not stand up to long periods of heavy duty use. I would recommend the bigger 18 volt jobs for that. This item is capable of hammer drilling and, has even passed the test for that on most occasions however, I would not recommend extended periods of hammer drilling with this type. The batteries just don't stand up to extended hammer drill use. We burned one up a work like that. For quick sessions O.K. but, Not all day long use. You will find yourself changing out the battery quite often. But, For light and medium use, This puppy is fantastic.Read full review
I bought an XRP DEWALT 14.4 VOLT 1" DRILL W/ CIRCULAR SAW a few years ago and used them and sometimes even abused them.Neither one let me down until the batteries recently got too tired to hold a good charge.I bought one new battery at a hardware store and was back in business once again, but considering the price I paid for that one battery, I found buying a whole new drill,2 batteries and a charger of the same make,I would still be able to use my circular saw(which is easier to control and cuts better than my corded ones) and also have a brand new extra drill and charger for free.Don't just take my word for it- price them individually yourself and you'll see.I'm glad I could still get this particular DEWALT model because it's done everything a larger voltage drill would do,without the extra size and weight which would sometimes makes it impossible to get in tight places to work.It even drills concrete and drives in TAPCONS with ease and as a matter of fact will even break them off every time if you don't have the clutch adjusted right. I don't care much for Kevin Harvick -but I love my DEWALT drills & saw!!Read full review
Very powerful, light helps on job location, select speeds, and clutch very helpful in every job. I bought it to replace a Dewalt that is very old and this one seems to be alot stronger and able to do the jobs I want it to.
Purchased to replace a DW983 XRP which finally wore out. New drill is a little heavy compared to the new 18v dewalt drills but it fits in with the rest of my 14.4 stuff.
This is my third drill you can push them and they keep going AAA+++ I still have the first one I purchased when the first 14.4 volt drill came out. the best is you can change the brushes if needed
