This is a companion book to one of the best, if not the best, series to ever appear on television, Deadwood. For those who know the series, there is no explanation needed. For those who have never seen the series, my advice would be to go out and buy the three seasons that are currently available on DVD. HBO decided to end this series after three seasons after assuring it's viewers that there would be a fourth. It was an insult to those who value great art, and a stab in the back to subscribers of HBO. Anyway, you can get the DVD's and the book and relive one of the great works of television artistry.
Excellent info shared by creator/writer/director David Milch on the history he drew from and how he philosophically understood the times and the people and how he incorporated it all into the series. Includes excerpts from original writings of Deadwood history. Fascinating read.

Beautiful design, unique cover, pics of the tv stars as the characters, pics of the real historical figures. Illustrations from the costumer. Best part--each actor talks about how he or she goes about playing the character. Doesn't cover all episodes, but 75% or more are covered with short summaries. Phenomenal interior design, mixes old graphics & photos with new photos. Embossed cover with adhered handbill-type paper. Adeptly captures an 1870s atmosphere.
Nice book with back round stories of the actual historical characters and pictures. Also some nice insights into series character development and series concept. A must have for series fans and those looking for a view of a west of the past..
