Lara Parker, who played "Angelique Bouchard/Collins" on the original TV show has penned three Dark Shadows novels. The first, "Angelique's Descent" was WONDERFUL. This is her second and most of the novel takes place in 1971, with flashbacks to 1692 and the Salem Witch Trials. Liked the first novel better, but I'm an Angelique junky and the second novel was more Barnabas/David based. Still a really fun read for Dark Shadows/original series fans. Ms. Parker is a surprisingly gifted writer (with a Masters Degree in Creative Writing!) and I can hardly wait until August, when her third DS novel will be published. That one will be Quentin/Angelique based (my fave couple) and, if nearly as good as the first two novels, will be a guilty pleasure. Don't hesitate to buy this if you're a DS fan. But read "Angelique's Descent" first. It's one of my favourite books and sets you up nicely for the sequels.Read full review

This was a very good book. Very fast paced reading. Wonderful, descriptive language. It tells the story of Angelique in Salem Ma. in the witch hunting days, then tells about Barnabas' experiences in the "present". If you love the Collins family and their associates, you will love this book, which updates the characters and gives an answer to the question, "What happened to the Collins family when the show ended?" I recommend this book highly. Lara Parker is a great writer.
Dark Shadows:The Salem Branch is a interesting and suspenseful to read
