Notes
Home is where the heart is! Among the things I appreciate most is having grown up in the rural area of Pocahontas, Mississippi, only minutes away from Mount Center Church. It was there where I received a taste of the Almighty who carries me even until this day. At home during Sunday church services and revivals, there was always spirited singing that stirred the soul. Revival was always the first week in August of each year, and baptizing Sunday followed on the first Sunday in September. Oh what a time we had in the Lord! I recall notable memories on baptizing Sunday; all the new converts were dressed in white gowns, as they followed the preacher and deacons to the place to be baptized. The mothers, dressed in white, marched behind the converts singing all the way to the water, those songs we learned as we heard Momma Hattie singing them around the house, 'On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand' and 'None but the Righteous Shall See God.' Those memories are still with me, fresh and clear. Please share them with me through these melodies, as I take a Journey Back Home. Acknowledgements This effort would not have been possible without some wonderfully able and loving people. I was blessed with tremendous support. Special thanks to a great planning team and the Music Ministry of the Greater Fairview Baptist Church, under the direction of Lannie Spann McBride.
