The hi-cut control plays an important role and make this pedal sound like an analog delay, if you want to; I compared it with my MXR carbon copy and it can achieve the dark, warm repetitions of the CC. It has around 1 sec in long delay mode, the short mode is a slap back type echo. If you find a decent deal go for it, a great addition to any pedal collection.

I gotta say..I do have a weak spot for these vintage style DE pedals. The first one I discovered was the Cool Cat chorus pedal, and was very impressed. The sound and the retro design convinced me that it was a keeper. I went on to buy the Fab Tone, and later, the Dan Echo. These pedals are pretty heavy and kind of specialty pedals so I’m planing to use them for recordings. You can dial a unique sound that will be hard to achieve in any other brands. The slap back sound on this DE is the best I’ve heard imho..I’m a long time Boss pedals user(CE3, DM2W, SD1 CS3 And TU3W mostly) I also use Zoom multi effects when I play small restaurants.

Let me start by saying I am a hobby guitar player. I don't earn money with my guitars, I just enjoy playing. When I first started buying pedals I had no idea what "warm tone" or "true bypass" or much anything else. I happened upon a Danelectro pedal "Cool cat tremolo" and like that quite a lot. I got some others then I got this "Dan Echo" pedal. Man I love this pedal. It was inexpensive, but had 4 control nobs, a toggle switch and, of coarse the start button. When I got this hooked up to my Fender Hot Rod amp I was blown away. The amp is a tube amp and has a wonderful tone, so the Dan Echo sounded great on it. I hooked it up to my 75 watt Line 6 solid state amp and it even sounded "warm" on it! If you don't have tones of cash to buy the $200-$300 pedals then avoid the other inexpensive echo pedals that sound "cheap"(I got one of those kind, I know how they sound) and get the Dan Echo. You really will be glad you did.Read full review
top notch unit! not really a delay, not a reverb. This is a modern take on the tape echoplex style units. Very accurate portale -if this is what you want, it's a steal. Great for early rush tones, also zep and hendrix come to mind . Very easy to use, and has a 2 stage switch for time. First is great for Scotty Morre rockabilly & tele-twang, flip over and full on echos!!
I just bought this pedal after looking for one that wasn't over $50.00. I had one a few years ago and like a fool sold it when I needed money. IMHO you can't get a better delay pedal with as many features for any price. It's the perfect pedal for rockabilly and any delay effect that you desire! The ghost of many greats live in this sucker! Pick one up and see for yourself.
