This is one of the classic animes from way back when. This is for those who love anime and know what the true routes of anime began. This is one of the few series, as short as it was that gave some definition to anime that is today. Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight is the second of the series and is a good anime to sit through. Through using the classic forms of European combat, combined with the fantasy of magic and mystical creatures and even spirits. This is not like a parody to Lord of the Rings, but you can think of it as a what if animated version of it with an entirely different setting. This anime is older than the Lord of the Rings. A classic anime to keep around and have.
Although Records of Lodoss War "Chronicles of the Heroic Knight" Stray from the original Records of Lodoss War it is by far a better series. It starts out with the Free Knight "Parn" and his elf babe "Deedlit" trying to stop The Black Knight "Ashram" from complete domination of Lodoss. This is some very good anime, but when it moves on to Spark's story is when it really gets good. He is trying to protect Little Neece, the key to reviving the goddess of destruction, and stop the evil Wizard Wagnard before he recurrects the goddess of Destruction Cardice. Although it has the exact same story line as the original it is significantly better, plus since i saw this series before i saw the original. I feel that this version is much more efficient and entertaining with the story line. By far the best old school anime never seen on American tv. Good for anime newcomers or gurus. P.S. if you watch this before watching the original don't ever watch the original. For that matter just don't watch the original.Read full review
Great animated fantasy series! Based on a book of the same name, the animation is thoroughly engaging and entertaining- 26 episodes of great fun! A great value for hours of enjoyment! The series has two parts. Episodes 1-13 focusing on the hero Parn and his companions and Episodes 14-26 with Spark and his companions- both attempting to spoil evil plots from the wizard Vagnard on the dark isle of Marmo. The adventures involve elves, dwarves, priests, wizards, dragons and monsters of all sorts around a larger story of a conflicted island landmass called Lodoss where war and conflict have ravaged the land and the five kingdoms are divided and at odds...... GREAT STUFF!
