I bought this product because of the batteries it uses. Lithium ion batteries hold their charge over long periods of non use and they have no memory, meaning they will charge up full even if you do not completely discharge them each time you use them. Also 18 volts is pretty much a standard now and you can purchase many tools that take the same battery. I also have a 12 volt DeWalt drill that is about 18 years old, it still works but if you do not use it for a while the battery runs down just sitting around. I tried to get lithium batteries for it but it is an older style and they do not make lithium batteries for it. This drill came with the light weight batteries and that is ok because I do not use it a lot but if you were to use it for say your job they make an extended run battery and with a couple of these and a charger you can go all day long.Read full review
LIKES: Technically this drill/driver replaced the DC720 which replaced the DC759. It is currently the smallest & newest of the 18v compact series that DeWalt offers. Very good power & balance. Will drill in several 3" deck screws without pre-drilling. Has LED light above trigger. 2 speeds. DISLIKES: Numbers '1' & '2' on top gear shifter are hard to see, needs to be painted.
Perfect for around the house, the led light is a nice feature, also being a PA Certified Machinist, I used the torque settings to run very small taps into metal without breaking the tap!
We love this drill. The light at the bottom is great. It is so light to use even I, a weakling, could use it with ease. The Lithium ion batteries that came with it charge up very quickly and last a long time. We are very happy with this drill kit.
I have purchased three cheaper cordless drills over the last few years and have been greatly disappointed with them all. None of them were built to last and could only take on minimal jobs. Not so with the DeWalt. From the first time I held it the quality was obvious and its performance was unparalleled. It cost a little more but was worth every dollar and more.
