This is the latest installment of a terrific series of books by a solidly fun and readable author! I consider these a 'guilty pleasure' in the way I might indulge in a velvety deep-dark chocolate truffle! Once I discovered these books (from a Border's salesgirl), I devoured them (no pun intended), and now only feel let down that it'll take [too long] before I can read more about the fabulous Eric, Bill and Sookie...a group of fun characters, creative fantasy, exciting action and yummy (tasteful) eroticism too! When my local bookstore was out of Dead And Gone, I thought to buy it used on eBay (great way to go). And don't bother with HBO's TrueBlood series (based on the books). While it has its merits (lawd, is Stephen Moyer sexy!), it's a poor interpretation of the books; lines of good/bad, moral/immoral, right/wrong, sexy/pornographic are badly blurred so stick with the books! Kudos to Charlaine Harris!!!Read full review
Dead and Gone is up to Charlaine Harris's usual standards when it comes to the Sookie Stackhouse novels. It was a riveting read that I could hardly put down. As usual Sookie finds herself caught in the middle of conflicts in the supernatural world that should really have nothing to do with her. Once one problem gets resolved two or three more pop up and yet all get nicely resolved by the end. Fans of Sookie and True Blood will love this book. One of the great things about these books, this one included, is that while there is a whole mythos being built up as you go along through the books, you can actually pick up an individual book in the middle or end of the series and still get a good read. Ms Harris does an excellent job of containing the stories individually within each book and never leaves issues unresolved and leaving her fans wanting for the next book. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I AM wanting the next book but I don't have to worry about finding out what's going to happen before it comes out. Two thumbs up.Read full review
I may be biased because I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, so every little bit I get satisfies my craving for more Sookie! I finished this book in just a few hours. I just couldn’t put it down! The only thing that bothered me is that it leaves off on a cliff hanger and the next book for this series isn’t coming out until May 2010 (a compilation of short stories is coming out in October 2009, but that won’t be a continuation of Dead and Gone). So if you can handle waiting a year to wait for the answers to all the questions you have after reading dead and Gone, buy it now. If not, wait until early 2010 so you’ll only have to wait a few months until the next book in this series comes out!
I could hardly wait to read the latest book in the Sookie Stackhouse series! Being able to purchase it on eBay at half of the retail cost enabled me to get this book DEAD AND GONE by Charlaine Harris in hardback and not to have to wait on the more affordable paperback. I have purchased all my Sookie Stackhouse Books on eBay and can hardly wait for the next one! Thanks eBay! When you become obsessed with a series such as this there is nothing more exciting as the new book in your hands! The series Trueblood on HBO and Sookie Stackhouse are addictive! Thanks to the affordability of shoppong on eBay I am able to feed all my addictions whether it be for Charlaine Harris' novels or vintage toys. eBay is great for "window shopping" too. You not only find anything your heart desires on eBay but you don't have to spend money on gas or exhaust yourself searching everywhere for what you want or need.Read full review

SLOWLY. it's enough to make you scream "i want more!" it's a very good book, my only complaint: TOO SHORT.............I WANT MORE!Read full review
