Steve Carell and Tina Fey team up in this funny comedy about a couple Phil and Claire Foster who live an ordinary life in New Jersey with their two kids, great jobs and good friends. Phil takes Claire out on the town in Manhattan and things go horribly and turn hilariously funny when they take a reservation at a posh dinner spot under assumed names. This movie had me roaring with laughter at times as Carell and Fey get into more trouble that one could believe possible. The movie flows throughout it's entire length with non-stop gags and non-stop funny lines all while being completely serious about the entire story. I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it to anyone who loves a great comedy or wants a good laugh. The movie also stars: Mark Wahlberg, Jimmi Simpson, Ray Liotta, and Taraji P. Overall I didn't expect much from this movie, which is why I waited to see it until now. Little did I realize this actually is a very good comedy with plenty of unexpected twists. As you can guess it starts off showing a family with a boring home life which is spiced up with weekly dates. For teh characters the latest date turns into something they never dreamed when they do something that is not normally what they would do. The following turn of events then takes them on an all night journey or corruption, mistaken identity, and turns two ordinary people into heros. Great performances by Steve Caroll, Tiny Fay, Mark Wahlberg, and one of the actor's that makes regular appearances on 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' as a McPoyal! Definitely worth watching, plenty of laughs and plot twists, just wish Marky Mark would put a shirt on in at least one scene! *LOL* That plays into teh movie. Check it out.Read full review
Comedy is a fickle thing: Hit the right notes and you'll have people laughing the aisles; fall flat and you'll be greeted with stares of confusion. "Date Night," for some reason, clicked with very few critics. Some bemoaned the chemistry between Tina Fey and Steve Carell, while others claimed that the film just wasn't funny. Fortunately, this is one case where the critics were dead wrong. "Date Night" isn't just funny; it's downright hilarious. From Fey and Carell's stuck-in-a-rut interplay to Mark Wahlberg's dead-on parody of his own tough-guy persona, "Date Night" is very much a laugh-in from start to finish. Add in great supporting turns by James Franco, Mila Kunis and William Fichtner, and you've got a true recipe for comedy gold. In short, skip the critics take on "Date Night" and decide for yourself how funny the movie really is. Thanks for reading. The film is about a married couple who are so busy at work and home that they barely notice each other. They have the same date night every Friday at the same boring restaurant etc. They feel they are drifting apart so decide one evening to try a different kind of place all together and this is where things go hilariously from bad to worse. It follows the evening from them taking someone else s dinner reservations and the chaos just gets more and more out of hand. I don't really want to give any more away, but this film is very good, easy to watch and very funny.
DATE NIGHT DVD USED, This item was in very good condtion, looked as if it was viewed only a few times, plays perfectly. The Movie itself is a riot, with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, it was bound to be a romp. Not recommended for young viewers, it has adult only sections little kids should skip although no outright nudity, plenty of inference. Great fun though, and it's obvious they had a blast making it!
