After being a fan of the Linksys brand (exclusively) of routers and switches for years, how is it that I could be instantly turned to the "other side" so quickly? Because this is simply the best router I've ever owned, that's how. Quick Review: I won't drag on with a long boring review (you can find those elsewhere), instead this is just a quick summary of my feelings of this router after using it for the past 8 months. As I said before I had always only used Linksys products before and was very satisfied with the performance. Whether gaming or uploading files, I always give my routers a good workout. Well, after my third Linksys router died in 3 years, I decided to try this one. I had heard of this routers "GameFuel" Technology before, and since I play games online I thought I'd give it a try. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and even though the price is at a premium compared to other wireless routers, you definitely get what you pay for. My GamerLounge has been working flawlessly with Xbox Live, my wireless 802.11g laptop, Nintendo DS Wi-Fi, Nintendo Wii and a host of other wired and wireless devices I have connected. I also have several switches linked through this router and everything works together beautifully. One of my main problems with the older Linksys router is that while gaming, the Linksys router would not stay consistent when controlling the NAT firewall...basically it would fluctuate between a "Strict" NAT and an "Open" NAT. This means that it would interfere with connecting with players online, such as playing games over Xbox Live. I'm happy to report that the GamerLounge router reports a perfectly "Open" NAT firewall the whole time and I've never had a single problem with any aspect of this router since I've had it. The GamerLounge also allows me to set up my network the way I need to with static IP's and wireless security, MAC address filtering, etc. It has everything you need and came with an updated firmware right out of the box! Conclusion: If you're interested in online gaming at all, this router is the absolute best choice. The features and performance you get easily outweigh the slightly higher price. Buy this router...you won't regret it! ***Please indicate if you thought this guide was helpful in the box below.*** Thank you! JAMMAPARTSRead full review
I recently just received my Gamer Lounge DGL-4300 Wireless Router. I was very excited because the new wireless setup would free up a lot of space for me and the electronics I have in the house. The only complaint I have about the wireless router was that when I tried to connect it to my Xbox, the Xbox game play was still very laggy. I need to try to put the router closer to the Xbox to see if anything will change but regardless I thought the GameFuel would help. Overall, happy with the product just not the work I have to do to see if it will work better.
Had some problems at first but it turned out it was just the hardware i had thru the cable company, but once i got my cable company to bring me a new plain cable modem I hooked up my new DGL-4300 router and setup was a breeze. With my old router I had a lot of connection issues when trying to play games online, especially xbox live. I had constant "connection interrupted" and it was difficult to even finish a game, but now that I have this router I've used it for the past week and haven't had a single connection interrupted. I would suggest this router for any of my friends and family that are into online gaming!
This is a decent router for a gamer/beginner. It has limited control abilities such as tunneling, DMZ, custom rules and such. I am thinking of going back to my Linksys as the 168.1.1 and list this one as the .0.1 so that I can have my controls back and the kids can still use this for gaming.
You have to be careful and make sure the firmware update is unchecked otherwise it will search for updates and will not work.
