Blazing speeds, enhanced range, and flawless performance. This unit replaced 3 routers i had set up as access points because its signal reaches everywhere in my home and even the yard! Dont really have use for its advanced features because it is all handled by a physical firewall i set up between my modem and this router, but if you really need more, there are instructions online on how to upload DDWRT for this beast. If you keep the stock firmware, make sure you read carefully the instructions to upgrade it to the latest version. Depending on the firmware your unit arrives with, there is a specific sequence you must follow. It is larger than any routers i have ever owned, but it is worth it. Between cameras, game systems, PC's, cellphones, tablets, smart tvs, smart plugs, smart speakers, and other smart appliances, my network has about 35-45 devices, of which 20 or so are "always" connected. Even when everyone is home and several users are streaming video concurrently while others are online gaming, this router performs flawlessly. Highly recommended for anyone tired of dead zones, slow connectivity to good broadband internet, and constantly buffering videos or laggy gaming. Do your homework and read up on best practices to ensure you dont hinder its performance through poor configuration choices.Read full review

great speed and throughput. Antennas are weak plastic and break off easily.

This D-Link Ultra Performance Series Wi-Fi Router is insane from almost every perspective. Insane link speed quality. Able to receive a strong 866mbps on my SAMSUNG galaxy s7 Edge from it. It looks like a star wars space craft of some sort, so it definitely deserves a special place in your home were it can be seen and talked about. Next generation design ques. 6 adjustable high power antennas. A very powerful system that has a power supply bigger than some laptop chargers to give this thing some juice. Has a powerful 1ghz dual core processor, triband WI-FI, AC Smartbeam. It tracks your devices and optimizes the WI-FI accordingly which is pure awesome. I find that i a 1 bar location it will drop out for a second then reconnect with 2-3 bars- yeah that's pretty damn cool. Anyone who is interested or wants a WI-FI Router unlike anything you ever heard of- this is the one. It is expensive so you might VERY well jave the most expensive sophisticated WI-FI network in your neighborhood if you set it up right. This router is ready to kick Ass straight out of the box. I went all out and found the perfect spot, upgraded the main modem ethernet cable from a Cheap CAT4 to a very rare expensive CAT7 gold shielded cable. A bunch of other WI-FI enhancement were made throughout my house to totally revamp what WI-FI is under my roof. Get some!!!!!Read full review

Incredibly fast router, almost lightyears ahead of others as reviews from CNET, PCMag and Router Authority suggested. Would highly highly recommend, as it was a breeze to install. The biggest thing to note is that this router is not small and goes better on a shelf than a high point on a wall due to placement / length of power and ethernet connections. Upgraded from a D-LINK D868L, provided by Optimum to this router, moving it to a centralized location and setting up a series of other Linksys and Netgear AC routers to serve as hardwired extenders. Great value for the investment. Once you have tweaked the other routers a bit, the difference is noticeable. The only drawback was being unable to set device priority and channel for operation as one does other routers through the online portal This may be more due to lack of expertise, but consider myself intermediate in networking configuration. Also, when upgrading, get rid of old CAT 5 / CAT 5e cables and switch to the newest spec (currently CAT 7). There is about a 10mbps difference using those cables when I tested connection speed (on download).Read full review

Out of the Box It's a great looking router. After you hang it and hook up your cables and then see it with the 6 antennas it looks like a mess. It hangs with the Cables coming out the top so you have cables draping down around the router. If you could hang it nose up and cables coming out the bottom that would have been a plus. The internal software is junk. Not much control of the Router. I had a Belkin 600N that I got 4 years ago that had way better internal software. The Software for using an external Hard-Drive on a network dose not work. I spent two days tiring to get the drive to be accessible for my Two wireless computers and my Smart TV. No problem accessing it with my Main PC that is plugged into the router. I ended up making shortcuts to the IP address to the External Drive. Now The Good.. If your just going to use it for access to the internet through a modem, your going to Love It. The Speed is Very Fast. The range is one of the Best on the market. When I walk my dog my phone is still connected to it at over a block away (and that's going through 2 walls before it leaves my house). For the price Its a Great Router. I just wish they would have put more thought it how it looks when hanging it and more time making the software.Read full review
