I just wanted to leave a note for potential buyers of a refurbished model of this coffee pot (which I bought over 6 months ago). eBay shoppers, you can buy a manufacturer refurbished Cuisinart coffee pot with CONFIDENCE! The Cuisinart DCC-100 12-cup coffee maker comes exactly as it would if it were new. It is packed well by the refurbisher, and contains all parts, including carafe, filter baskets, water filter, and owners manual. You would never know that this item was refurbished. This is basically a brand new coffee pot at a small fraction of the retail cost (priced $75 at Kohls). Every feature on this coffee pot works the way it should. So, do not fear the refurbished coffee pot. It is perfect in every way and continues to work as-advertised a half year later. The coffee maker itself is easy to clean. The reservoir hole at the top of the coffee maker is plenty big enough (not sure how other reviewers have a problem missing the opening). As for the carafe, the lid separates from the carafe for easy cleaning and the design is ergonomic and user friendly. It serves up a smooth, dripless pour. Buy this coffee pot (even if it has been refurbished from the manufacturer) with confidence.Read full review
I bought the Cuisinart DCC-1100 12 Cup Coffee Maker after checking and comparing the many reviews of different brands and models of coffee makers. This brand and model consistantly rated very high in quality and value no matter if the review was written by a customer or by a magazine or other publication. I was also looking for kitchen appliances in the color PINK which left me with fewer choices and alot of lesser known brands to choose from. This model has many convenient features. Anyway, after having used this coffee maker for the past few months, I too rate it 5 stars for value and ease of use. Add to that the money one saves by comparing and carefully shopping on eBay and it becomes a double home run. Highly Recommend.
We have a Cuisinart stainless steel coffee maker similar to this one. After eight or nine years of daily use the switch became tempermental; so, time for a replacement (Cuisinart of course since we were so satisfied with our old one). I bought this one even though it was not stainless steel. Cuisinart has made several inprovements: 1. the carafe slids in and out easly, 2. There is a water level gauge on the side which is easy to see (particularly if you are short as my wife is, 3. The cone shaped basket seats better allowing the top to close flat. WE WILL ALWAYS USE A CUISINART COFFEE MAKER.
My five year old Cuisanart 12 Cup Coffee Maker conked out all at once, but it was a good one. I wanted a smaller capacity pot, so I ordered a different brand on line. It was less expensive, but not near what I was used to. Inasmuch as I would have liked a change, I decided to stay with what I knew to be a good product. I was a bit disappointed when I got it, since my previous one was mostly stainless steel, and this was shiny black, not stainless steel. Now, tho, I think I like it better. It makes great hot coffee, and that's what it's all about.
I purchased the DCC-1100 for three reasons. 1) Quality name brand. 2) Good reviews. 3) and to replace a very old Krups Crystal Arome Plus Time that had begun to leak intermittently. Well, there are some pros to this machine and they are: Intuitive programming, a decent cup of coffee that's hot and waiting when I wake up and a design that doesn't make me gag when I look at it. The cons are: Poor carafe design. The plastic surrounding the lip of the carafe really makes it difficult to actually get the liquid out of the pot. It makes filling the reservior and cleaning the pot troublesome. There is residue on the plastic, both where the coffee drips into the carafe lid as well as the area surrounding the spout. It is not a smooth pour like a glass carafe would have and it easily stains colors other than black. The other thing I noticed that I did not experience with my round glass carafe in my Krups was that it will drip. I am better at pouring than my husband but he never spilled using the Krups yet now there are little drips from the Cuisinart every morning. One other thing I noticed that most of you will not even care about is this: I used my old Krups to make both herb/green teas or coffee without having any telltale residue or taste from either. I could brew a pot of coffee one day and then turn right around and brew a pot of tea and I never tasted coffee in my tea. It was always fresh and distinctfully tea (flavored, of course!) After only one pot of coffee in the Cuisinart I brewed a pot of tea and it was just awful! I tried it again and it was still terrible. I cannot use this pot to brew tea now. For me it is a terrible waste. I will have to buy another coffee maker to make tea in. I had always been able to program the Krups for early morning wake up coffee or tea to suit my taste and now I have to boil water if I want tea. Not happy about that since tea was my preference during the week and coffee more a weekend drink. I think that the taste residue may have to do with the design of the top of the coffee maker where the water flows from it. The rain shower area cannot be cleaned behind the lid. It condensates there and remains behind the sprayer holes and it also seems to lay in the carafe lid the same way. Even though I can clean the carafe lid I cannot clean inside the top of the coffee maker. As I said, it may not be the reason for the taste contamination but it might just be that the plastic wants to hold onto the stronger taste of coffee. There were others that reviewed this coffee maker and the cons seemed to be the filling of the reservior. To me it doesn't matter whether you are left or right handed, the design is such that there is interference from the rise in the plastic top where the water flows as well as all the plastic surrounding the top of the carafe. If you take the lid off the carafe it helps but still the lip of the carafe's design is poor, since it is surrounded by plastic that has an edge keeping the water from smoothly pouring out. You have to tip it upside down do get the water out and then it drips from the other side! Sorry, I wished I could say more positive things about this coffee maker but other than a hot cup of coffee that works with a timer I am a bit disappointed with this coffee maker. I may have to buy a second one just for tea. That is a lot of money wasted when I used to be able to use my wonderful Krups for both!Read full review
