I purchased this DVD after seeing my daughter loose all of the lbs. and fat from having 4 children. She gains 45 lbs. with each child, but you would never know it as she drops back down to 112-115 pounds by doing Pilates. I asked her what she does to look so good and she told me that All she does is use this Pilates DVD. This DVD targets your abs, thighs and butt. It tones and strengthens at the same time. I'm in my forties and thought I'm in great shape. I'm 6'4" 195 lbs and am very active, my job keeps my upper body and legs in shape but does little for my abs. I've been using this ab workout everyday for 30 minutes for two months. I can now see a big difference in my abs, they are now toned and strengthened. As I first started using this workout, I thought it was going to kill me. I found out that I wasn't in as great of shape as I thought. It looks easy, but it really works your muscles at the same time it stretches your body which you need to stay flexible as you get older. I was thinking that I just needed to target my stomach to get it toned up, so at first I was just doing the ab workout. But I found that by doing the whole workout, it toned my stomach and lower back much faster. I now have a slim waist and no longer have a little pot belly. To be honest, I'm still a little sore even after using this workout for two months. I believe that it is because it's still working. I will continue to use this workout. If I reach a point where I'm not sore, then I think it I will have reached a point where it's not helping me loose weight. It will still keep me limber and toned which is what I was looking for. I really love this workout DVD....Ellen is an excellent instructor...she has a calm, relaxing voice and gives clear instructions on the routine...I really like how it is broken up into three separate segments/workouts that are only 10 minutes each!!..this means you can do one, two or all three depending on your time and what you are focusing on...I did all three segments and felt like I really got worked out all over, in a very reasonable period of time. This routine made me feel like I had accomplished a good work out and stretched really well, yet also calmed and relaxed me at the same time!!..I love it and will keep in it my weekly exercise routine. I also use the gazelle, and bowflex, combined with pilates for variety...enjoy!
I bought this DVD when it first came out and have loved it better than any other exercise DVD. I like the fact that you are given instructions to modify the exercises for your fitness level. I also like that it is broken up into 10 minute segments in case I don't have time to go through the whole DVD. Even if I can't see results right away, I can feel a difference in my strength, endurance, and balance within a week of doing this DVD. Because of illness I was unable to do anything but walk for over a year and a half so this is the perfect DVD to gain my core strength back. I use it in rotation with walking and light weights, along with my hula hoop, and it's perfect. I recommend this DVD to all my friends. In fact, I am going to buy a few to give to a couple of friends who want to try it.
Excellent routine. You can do it in short segments or in longer ones. Ellen Barrett is just SO engaging! Absolutely recommendable.

I bought this DVD hoping to tone up and I did but I also gained tons of energy! The workout was perfect. It is 30 minutes in full length but is divided into 3 different workouts that can be done seperatly. I was more concerned about my abs so I did that 5 days a week and only worked my thighs and butt 3 days a week. Its perfect for keoing a firm body on a busy schedule!
