I absolutely think that this is the best yoga video for home ever! I have used it for more than 6 years. I use it because it is easy to understand, you don't need to be a pro, and it gives you a good stretch. It's definitely not an insane workout, although it does have a a fat burning yoga section which is supposed to be a little bit more "cardio", but it's really just a faster version that has a little more complicated moves. I workout regularly but when I just need a really good stretch after a tough workout it pop in the dvd and the "joy of yoga" part and just relax. The instructor, Sarah Ivanho, makes it user friendly and fun and not complicated at all... the routine feels natural and seems to flow the way your body feels. I've tried other yoga dvd's because i've lost this one a few times and i've found that the other ones are just not as good. The instructor either doesn't explain things right or just doesn't feel involved with the person at home- Sarah feels like she really is talking to you and is there watching you. Some other ones are too intense and expect you to be a pro even though the label says "easy"-however this one still does get challenging and it's not really easy at all; you do feel exercised at the end of the session. I love it... give it a try. you will too.. tried it with kids and they liked it too.. awesome for the back pain too!Read full review
Great DVD for yoga beginners, or medium level. It contains two types of workouts, one is more for stretching and the second is for muscle definition, so far I have only done the first. The DVD also has a version where you only hear the instructor giving directions, without music, so you can use your own. I would definitely recommend the DVD to anyone new to yoga who wants to get a good workout, I felt my muscles sore the following day and it didn't even seem like I was straining that much! This is the best workout DVD I have bought in a while.
This is a very pleasant workout. The fat burning yoga is not overly strenuous, just a nice steady pace. The Joy of yoga is just that, an enjoyable yoga workout. The instructor Sara Ivanhoe is an excellent teacher. In both workouts there is a class of yoga students with one student showing an easier version of each pose. Sara makes you feel so comfortable if you don't have the flexibility to do the tougher poses. She says," Your yoga practice is doing what is comfortable for your body. Take time to adjust yourself and wiggle around a bit to make yourself comfortable." She has a very soothing voice, just a very calming effect. This is a very nice addition to my dvd collection.
I bought this DVD because I wanted to ease into yoga as a daily exercise. When the DVD arrived, I watched "Joy of Yoga" so I would know what to expect during my workout. The series of movements are comfortable and easy on the body. Now, I warm up with "Joy of Yoga" and switch to "Fat Burning Yoga" for my workout. Both episodes offer a full workout without too much strain. I look forward to my workouts and am thrilled with the way I feel afterwards. I LOVE that I can exercise in my own livingroom and feel like I have a support group. I have lost weight faster than expected with less struggle than expected. I highly recommend this DVD.
This dvd offers challenging poses and Sara is easy to follow. I practice yoga regularly and this dvd is one I use often and has definately given me the benefits of yoga such as strength and flexibility as well as weight loss. It's a more hip yoga dvd rather then the ones that have a lot of chanting and meditation. Because of the crunch dvd I trust buying other yoga dvd's by Sarah knowing I'll get a good challenging workout in an update format.
