This is the best Concrete book by Ms. Hunter yet! She is one who can both do and teach, and produces a fantastic book each time. As with the others in this series, this book is readable by artists or someone investigating concrete art for the first time. The projects range from simple to unbelievably swesome, and include tools, concise step-by-step how-to instructions with clear photos, and even possible scenarios of things that can go wrong :-) The color pages of amazing artwork by varied artists is worth the price alone. Mosaic encrusted lizards, angel dogs, and Virginia Bullman's concrete farm wife clothed in broken dishes--I wanted to touch the pictures. Even the basic projects aren't boring, and open to interpretation by a beginner so that their first work can be very original and satisfying. While some folks (like myself) may realize that concrete work is beyond their physical capabilities, this book will ignite the imaginations of artists in any medium. Ms. Hunter's books remain collectible and retain their price for a reason. I would recommend them to stained glass artists, fiber artists or anyone who appreciates textures--if you can find one, however, because I'm keeping my copy!Read full review
This book contains many good ideas of items you can make, and the pictures are very good. I bought the book because of the picture on the cover, I've been wanting to make a concrete leaf and I have made quite a few following the book's directions. However, I did find that there could have been more suggestions on how to avoid breakage, and I did break quite a few before I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. All in all, I suppose that any craft requires practice to be perfect, and that is the case with using concrete. I would reccomend the book for anyone who has some knowledge of working with this product, I am very pleased with how my later projects turned out.
I love flowers and wanted some unusual things to put in my flower beds, which are very large. I just happened to see this book in the library and brought it home. I do not like to have things EVERYONE else has and so this book got my creative ideas moving, in the form of concrete sculpture. : ) I liked the entire book. I have not had a chance to be creative yet, it looks as though it will be a Winter project. Sherri Hunters other books about concrete are just as helpful as this book. THANKS SHERRI mary
I had purchased one of these from a book club and my sister loved the items my daughter and I had made so I wanted to get her one of these books for Christmas. I was glad to find one here as I have gotten out of the book club. It has many wonderful items to make and the directions are great. The things we made are pretty simple and not too messy. I would recomend this book to anyone with a desire to make concrete yard decorations, planters, and other items. Thanks!
The projects in the book look great now I need time to make them.
