For those of us that feed others, this is as welcome in my cookbook collection as Betty Crocker. Everyone owns a slow cooker/crockpot. They simply got shelved and put away for the quick dinner on the run. A better dinner can be found here with a Simple effort. Most recipes are entree, liquid, vegetable, and spice. Thank You for creating the slow cooker to make a great meal so easy. These recipes have opened my ideas past a hunk of beef, water, frozen bag of vegtables, salt, and pepper. I served a soup that had everybody saying, "You MADE this ?". I love the breakfast/brunch section. Casseroles and side dish's can be the unexpected hit of the table with these suggestions. **Look at a Betty Crocker cookbook. Notice all the extra info about purchasing the right equipment, or food. You don't see cookbooks now with "We tried all these, and this is why this is the right piece for the recipe". This is the Consumer Reports of Cookbooks. It's stamped with a seal, "TESTED AND APPROVED IN AMERICA'S TEST KITCHEN". Example 1. Egg storage.. In the cardboard container on the top interior shelf. The refrigerator door is not the right temperature or humidity, and outside of their carton, they absorb flavors. Cakes and cookies could taste "oniony". Example 2. Potato for breakfast.. They tested them all, and will tell you why Yukon Golds are better with eggs. Proper cutting is essential to the amount of starch you need for proper balance. I love this book enough to give as a gift to any cook.Read full review
