This is not a great textbook. Its a little hard to read, but what textbook isnt. It does however, have plenty of good exercises and problems as well. Please note that this was the paperback international edition meaning that it was much cheaper than the hardcover U.S. edition. Thankfully though, everything in the book is the same. The problems, the chapter content, even the page numbers. This book was purchased for my Cost Management class. If you need this book for Cost class, get this version, the best value you can get!
This is a great book for those who want to further their knowledge in costing. If you are a business manager, this book teaches powerful tools for you to understand what is going on in terms of cost and value added items in your business starting from R&D / raw material to end consumers. If you are not into any business, at least, this book will help you to understand how to manage costs in your households. I shared my knowledge from this book with my fiancee and she applies that into our household management system. Hence, we start cooking more in bulk than in 'a la cart' so that we can push our groceries expenses much lower than before and have more free time because we don't have to cook every day. Every time before I drive out, we will set out a map for all places that we will need to stop by to get our needs so that we don't spend extra mileage unnecessarily. Overall, whoever studies this book will broaden his/her horizon in anything that he/she does. God bless!Read full review
This cost management book is decent. It has interesting real life examples for the problems that are interesting. Not bad for a textbook. I have come across some awful ones so this one I wouldn't mind recommending.
I needed this book for a class. In the bookstore it sold for way too much money. The professors suggested that students refrain from purchasing an international edition. With the way the economy is going there was no way I would purchase the bookstore copy. So I went online and searched for the international edition. What a life saver! The price was phenomenal and the international edition is exactly the same as the version being sold in the bookstore. I am ever so grateful!
I was concerned that the book would not be the same as the US version, and the guy at the bookstore even warned me against buying an international copy. But the book is word for word the same book that I paid 3 or 4 X's as much for at my local university bookstore. I would highly recommend buying an international copy. It's cheaper, and the soft cover is lighter to haul arounder :D
