I bought this book because the author was being reviewed in local newspaper and I found her to be interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the book because it's a blend of two stories. One story being how she met her future husband, Mr. Latte, as she refers to him in her book, and the foods they enjoyed during their courtship. The fact that during this time she was a food critic for the NY Times, and had occasion to dine in wonderful eateries and critique both the food and the other diners, helps the reader to feel they're there with her. At the end of each chapter in the book, she includes the recipes for the foods she enjoyed with Mr. Lattee. It's definitely a book within a book; her story and also a cook book. I loved the book and hated to see it come to an end. I'll definitely read more of this authors works. The whole experience was so much fun that I immediately ordered another copy and had it sent to a friend.Read full review
This is the One! Beside very well written, when you fall in love with Amanda, Tad and their families, it is an absolutely comprehensive cook book, which give you a chance to create the menu for any occasion. And it will always surprise your guests. And for the cook - it is very educational. Another Amanda's book, The Cook and the Gardener is a compliment for this one, and I am very recommend it too.
