Michael Beschloss is a gifted scholar that is easy to understand. He creates a story based on extensive research that gives the reader insight as to what the world leaders were thinking at the end of world war II, and what motivated them to make the decisions they made at that time. An interesting informative and revealing look at the relationship between FDR and his cabinet and his Vice President, Harry Truman and his Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau. A must read to understand what happened to Germany at the end of WWII.

This book is an excellent review of what the United Staes did for the countries that it vanquished during World War II. The personalities of the men (no women) involved are fascinating. In this day and age it does ask the question, why, after these countries started war with the U.S.A. were we so generous in rebuilding their countries? The demolitiom of Germany and it's very careful planning is fascinating. As is the anguish that President Truman faced with he annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. GREAT historical read.
Very informative about the last part of the war in Europe.
