This is a well written book from a fundamental perspective. You may noth have clue 1 about computer networking, pick this book up and understand the fundamentals. I have read many networking books and this really is probably the best so far from a stand point of understanding the OSI / TCP/IP layers. Kudos go to James and Keith for making the subject of computer networking less complicated than some books make it out to be.
The internation edition one is slightly off from the united state edition. Some homework problem numbers are different, and values used in problems are different as well. The book itself is very useful. Things are explained very well.
I FOUND OUT THAT THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION OF THIS BOOK IS DIFFERENT THAN THE USA VERSION. DIFFERENT PROBLEMS, NUMBERS, AND TEXT. I DID THE ASSIGNED HOMEWORK, TURNED IT IN, AND GOT A BAD SCORE BECAUSE IT WAS ALL WRONG! PROFESSOR SAID I DID THE WRONG PROBLEMS, SHOWED HIM THE BOOK, AND WE BOTH NOTICED IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE USA VERSION. LUCKILY HE GAVE ME MORE TIME TO DO THE CORRECT PROBLEMS! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
I bought this book for school and it is helping me understand the course am using it for. The book is very explanatory and easy to understand. Some questions in the exercises though seem not to correspond with the US version but I do not mind... Excellent book
