The book is an outstanding illistration on a little known subject, "The Combat Photographer". People watch the films on the Military and History channels and look at the awesome pictures in books but seldom think of the man or woman behind the camera risking his life to take the picture or shoot the film to record for history the horrors and tragedies of WAR. This book is about the Vietnam war that was the bloodiest war for the Photographer. Casualties were 60% and the Purple Heart Awards were close to 90% for those who actually went into the battle armed with a camera. I try to buy all of the Time Life Books, "The Combat Photographer" because I shot the picture on the cover in 1968 near Gio Lin Vietnam with the 1st. Battalion 3rd. Marines 3rd. Marine Division when I was a Staff Sergeant Combat Photographer in the Marine Corps. This photograph also earned me the title "Combat Photographer of the Year" by the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association. The dealer who sold this book was also an outstanding dealer, shipped the book quickly and a pleasure to do business with. Thank You, madpiperRead full review

The pictures tell more than a dictionary of words. The good and the bad are shown. No event is ever as simple as it appears. The complex require a lot of time to understand.
This book literally gives a picture of a war not to be forgotten. Pictures and text together makes this an important historical document.
