I bought this DVD as the final piece of my Columbo collection. While everyone loves the bumbling, forgetful Lt. Columbo, as the series went on he became a caricature of himself. Going back to the beginning of the show, namely the pilot episode ("Prescription: Murder"), the viewer sees a not-as-polite Lt. Columbo, who I loved and wish the writers kept that way. Even though it was always a cat-and-mouse type of show and the viewer (and ultimately Lt. Columbo) knew who the murderer was, it became too much with the "oh yes, sir" and "oh, one more thing." Those lines were run into the ground. And while I understand it's a case of "happy wife equals happy life," having Shera Danese (a/k/a Mrs. Peter Falk) in two of the episodes in this boxed set was a mistake as she's a horrible actress. The best episode, however was the one starring George Wendt as an owner of prized horses who kills his degenerate-gambling brother.Read full review
All of these mystery movies are stacked with excellent actors and are well written and directed. It's interesting how Columbo quickly is able to read the killer's actions and follows those instincts to successful arrest.

Columbo, clever as always. Would have given 5-star rating, but my used copy has a few flaws on the last disc, which causes the DVD to freeze a few times. Otherwise, first rate as Columbo always is.

These are truly iconic episodes of Columbo, closing out an era with sadness for closing, but with profound professionalism. If you happen to be a Columbo fan, you will love and adore this series. It's a MUST HAVE for your collection. I feel blessed to own the entire series, but more so for the grand finale.

If you enjoy Columbo, you will enjoy most of the stories in this collection. The 1990s and 2000s episodes are harder to find on TV or streaming services. The later years are generally not as good as the 1970s episodes, but most are still quality entertainment.
