I bought this book as part of an interior design course that I am following. It says on the cover 'how to design your home with colours from your heart' and that is exactly what it encourages you to do.It helps you identify the colours you like (I didn't really need any help there!)and guides you through the whole process of colour matching and contrasting. Finally, and maybe most importantly it gives you the nudge (or maybe a good shove)in that direction when it comes to using colour in your spaces. In an age when the most poplar colours around seem to be bland, washed-out neutrals (check out the most popular choices on any paint manufacturer's website if you don't believe me)it encourages you to just go ahead and USE COLOUR. I found this approach really refreshing and quite a change from the normal home-decorating meh-meh out there. I liked the discussions about colour psychology, and about how colour on your walls is not the same as colour in the paintpot. I felt I could do without certain patronising language especially in the examples given. Other than that I really have no complaints. Oh! and one last thing...it has a colour-cards system which must be the simplest, easiest way to mix and match colours ever. It looks almost simplistic, but it works. Almost too good to be true. A great investment buy which does not simply consider the fads of the moment, but gives you a solid understanding of colour and its application that will stand the test of time..
