Cold Steel has attempted to recreate the Scottish dirk of the seventeenth and early eighteenth century and to some degree has succeeded. When viewed alongside an early seventeenth century example, the blade lines are quite similar however the CS grip is fuller and more ergonomic. Thankfully, CS has eliminated the silver mounting, the jimping and the caringorm stones of the Victorian era and returned us to the classic dirk. I am unable to give 5 stars because the scabbard was not up standard and the COOL labeling affected that decision. I realize that price point is critical in the free market, but I would prefer an item made on shore. That helps to create responsibility in manufacture and might have made a difference in choice of leather in the scabbard. At list price, I would have answered "No" to all 3 above questions but having purchased the item at less than one half MSRP, I could say "Yes".Read full review

It is a quality blade, sharpens easily, has a larger handle which makes it great for a hunting/camping knife, holds it's edge after use. I am thoroughly happy with this blade.

Handle to blade fit is tight, blade comes sharp and will cut. Was packed in grease so no rust anywhere. I am satisfied.

Very well made. Could be used in warfare if needed. Not a cheap copy.
