I ordered this item to fix a tent I intended to sell. Having never used this kind of product, I had no idea if it would be easy or hard. Well, it was very easy. I didn't need to use the metal guide wire that came with the package. The new "rope" fed through the tent poles with relative ease. I tied a knot in one end, then started feeding it through the poles. Once I had through the last pole, I tied a temporary knot in it and tested the resistance when separating the poles, comparing it to the other complete pole. Once I had similar resistance, I tied a permanent knot in the rope, cut off the rest, and put a bit of glue on the knot and let it settle into its spot. Works great.

Cord was enough for one 12 foot pole. There are other kits for a similar cost which include much longer lengths of shock cord for about the same price. To fix all the poles in one tent I had to buy additional shock cord.
