An extraordinarily entertaining read. I have researched the life of Countess Erzsebet Bathory-Nadasdy thoroughly, and, if you are looking for more fact than fiction, do not read this book. I believe that the author does go with what actually happened as much as possible, but he adds fiction and takes away facts in order to go with the theme of his story. Again, if you want a good story read this book. If you want research, read something else.
Now if you hate the macabre this is not for you, This is a very descriptive book, Goes to what went on with one Elizebeth Bathory in great detail and what detial it is. Has such a great atmosphere to it and history value as well. Written in like a poetic nature. Andrei Codrescu shows such brilliance in this solid write. I would fully suggest this to even people who like history as a whole but again there are some graphic details in the book. So anyways all in all this is one of my favorite books ever and would suggest it to those who are interested in it and the nature of it as a whole.
