Clay Aiken should have won American Idol the 2nd season, not to take anything away from Ruben Studdard's effort. Clay was the more unusual, the more exceptional, his story a special one because he came from a proverbial and unexpected "nowhere"! "Solitaire" was one of his best on A.I., along with "Bridge Over Troubled Water." His interpretations of Elton John, too, are memorable. This is one of the best examples of his potential. Clay Aiken sings with great vocal engagement and surprising interpretation; his booming and dramatic vocal strength rises from sincerity and sensitivity. This haunting version of "Solitaire" resonates with all who recognize the human condition within, but respond without action, participation, or resolve. Aiken's vocal plea echoes the sadness of those who put so much into relationships, and when they fade, find that they take most everything else with them, leaving some isolated with their memories and little else! He illuminates a portait within a frame that many might find themslves drawn! It's his powerful voice and interpretation that makes the thought fly as if it could save someone!Read full review
i LOVED CLAY SINCE HE WAS ON AMERICAN IDOL AND HAVE BOUGHT EVERY SINGLE ALBUM HE HAS DONE. I THINK HE WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN RUBEN STODDARD AND THINK CLAY SHOULD HAVE WON THE TITLE. HE IS STILL A WINNER. IT TOOK A WHILE TO FIND SOLITARE BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. IT IS A GREAT SONG WITH GREAT VOCALS.
