I WAS HESITANT TO DO THIS AS I DIDN'T UTILIZE THIS DEVICE AS SOON AS IT ARRIVED, BUT I HAVE PUT POWER TO THE DEVICE AND IT SEEMS TO FUNCTION AS IT WAS SUPPOSE TO. THE ITEM IS USED AND SHOWS SIGNS OF WEAR BUT NOT ABUSE. THE PLASTIC HAS A BREAK IN THE FRONT THAT HAS NO EFFECT ON THE ABILITY OF THE UNIT TO OPERATE AS IT WAS DESIGNED. ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT BARGAIN FROM THE STANDPOINT THAT IT IS USED AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL. THE COMPANY WAS VERY PROMPT TO CONTACT ME AFTER THE PURCHASE TO SEE IF I WAS PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE AND UNTIL NOW I HADN'T CHECKED THE SWITCH FOR OPPERATION, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE GRADE "A" ON FUNCTIONALITY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY SELL QUALITY RELIABLE EQUIPMENT FOR A BARGAIN. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.

I originally bought this switch to handle all my routing and switching in my network. Having worked with Cisco equipment almost exclusively but having no experience with selecting a product myself, I began a long search and eventually settled on a catalyst 3550. The switch itself works perfectly. All switching works, internal VLAN routing works, and the switch is highly robust in general. My only issue with it is that it does not support any ip nat commands, which if you have a router, this is a non-issue. Everything else that I need works. If nat commands are a necessary for what you are looking for, try looking at http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/network-address-translation-nat/29283-166.html to determine a layer 3 switch that will work for you.
Perfect for home lab to study for CCNA and subsequent certifications. Fits my little cabinet perfectly and 48 ports makes just about anything possible.

We’ve (atlasnetworks.us) standardized on the 3550 as a top-of-the-rack switch for our value based dedicated server cabinets, as they offer true etherchannel functionality, and have a more powerful processor than the 3500XL or 2900/2950 series. While they don’t support IPv6 unicast routing or IGMP snooping, having IPv4 unicast routing available at the top of the rack can be incredibly handy – and with the right IOS, you even get OSPF and BGP functionality!
This switch is a good start for Layer 3 top of the rack technology. I use this for my server cabinet and really enjoy the true ethernet funtionality. With a faster processor than the 3500XL it is a real work horse. The only thing I wish it supported was IPv6 unicast routing or IGMP snooping, but that is a personal want! For the price this GB switch works just fine.
