Let's start it off by saying what a great entrance by Cher as she slowly descends in a cage from 20 feet above to the stage below while singing, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Then comes great singing of all of her greatest hit records through the years. Her voice sounds great and she looks great too! Next, add just a small touch of nostalgia with songs and clips of her and late husband Sonny together along with their daughter Chastity as a little girl. And then after that add small clips of Cher's movie career including Mask, Silkwood, Little Mermaids, Moonstruck, Witches of Eastwick and others. Not to mention the awesome dancing, which Cher joins in at times, and great acrobatics and special effects that are included in her show. One of my favorite highlights of this concert is when she comes out in mid-eastern garb with a veil over her face and a red ruby on her forehead singing this pretty song in a mid-eastern language while riding on top of a huge mechanical elephant! Did I mention the fact that this concert has it all?? When she mentions that this is her last concert the audience starts booing her becuz they love her and would like for her to perform more of them, but sarcastic Cher can't hold her tongue(has she ever?)and she doesn't let them have the last word!(did you think she would?) She tells them,"Look! I've been doing this for over 40 fricking years! Give me a break!" Which is true! She has! She and her late husband Sonny Bono started out their early singing career in the 60's, together with their look-alike fur vests and bell-bottom pants, with their first hit record which Sonny wrote,"I Got You Babe" which became their philosophy in life and was also their theme song of their hit TV show in the 70's, "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour." It also showcased Cher's many talents especially as a solo artist and it became a big stepping stone for her future career. She is one of the few entertainers and singers that have had a hit record in the top 10 for the past four decades straight! She is proud to hold that record and should be! Another one is Elvis! During one point in the concert she expresses her regrets about not doing all of the wild and crazy things that she had thought of when she was younger becuz she, "was always such a fraidy cat" She admits that she was bad but wishes that she had been even badder than she was and says that she wished she would have been the baddest diva ever alive! Stupid me, I thought she was!! Millions of fans have seen and heard this same sold-out concert in major cities all over the United States and loved it and just went absolutely wild over it! I did not get to attend this concert. I wish I had. But I am so glad that I bought this DVD so that I could experience Cher, dressed as a ring master with a hat, cape and a whip that she loudly cracks against the floor of the stage and grins as she loudly announces to the audience, "Ladies and Gentlemen and Flamboyant Gentlemen, Welcome To The Most Cher-est Show On Earth!" And indeed it is! This Farewell Tour was her proof to the world and to "all of those other younger singers coming up" that she's still got it after all of these years. And she proves it over and over again in this concert!Read full review
And thats exactly what we did..I bought this dvd for my Partner and I and another one for our best Friend who is a HUGE Cher fan..Don't worry this is not a review for ebay or any seller this is for Cher only!! She is phenominal...After viewing this dvd my Partner and I want to see Cher in person soo bad now! We will someday (fingers toes and eyes crossed)Cher delivers her finest musical moments right here in this cute little package..I just hope I look that good when I'm her age! I would kill for her body, her talent and her hair (her real hair)! If you like music, comedy, sexiness and four letter words then this dvd is for you..mind you remind the kids not to repeat what they hear or you may get a call from School...Cher even does a touching tribute to Sonny..the only complaint I have is Chers use of gd (Gods last name is not damn)..we don't allow that phrase to be used in our home, but I guess Cher has her own beliefs..yes, Cher we definitely believe you have real talent and this dvd proves it!Read full review
Cher at her best. Not the young Cher, but very attractive, and very very beautiful still. I liked the great costumes, she has always had great costumes. I saw her with Sonny at Lake Tahoe many years ago and she still captivates me. I really enjoyed the older scenes with Sonny interwoven into the production. She obviously is loaded with talent, the production numbers are great and she really seems to enjoy her job. Her band and dancers are tops on talent also. I really liked the behind the scene bonus footage. Overall, absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.
Cher is so beautiful in this DVD. It's a pleasure to watch. It is definately a good DVD to buy if you are looking for entertainment Cher style. You see a little of the old Sonny and Cher show and clips of different singers, comedians and actors together with Cher. I cried at the part where in recent years before his death Sonny sang "I got you baby" together with her. You get a look at Cher through the years too. This is all part of the concert. I would recommend getting this DVD I love it!
I am a fan since my teenage years, and I can say this DVD, brought me unforgettable memories. CHER looks amazing and the show it's one of her best (her voice, custome changes and dancers are truly spectacular)...this is a recorded concert everyone should have in their collection, because it simply describes a long and stable career well maintained through all the 40 years it covers on that particular night of year 2002. Great performance! Love it! I recommend it, without doubts!!
