I took my 3 year old daughter to see it and it was TERRIFIC!!! I must admit that I too am not a Dakota Fanning fan, but it's in my opinion that you don't take an opportunity such as this to bash an actor, or a little girl! Now back to the film:) I think the actors and actresses that provided their voices for this film did a marvelous job. And that Dakota Fanning performed very well in this film. It's in my opinion that this movie is a must see for anyone with elementary school aged children. I will definitely go see it once more and/or purchase this movie
My family really liked this movie! For those that dont know, Charlottes Web is the story of a runt piglet saved first by a little girl and then by a wise spider. We follow the piglets life as the spider, Charlotte, does her best to save him from the fate of the dinner plate. The casting is fabulous! Dakota Fanning plays a fiesty Fern, Steve Buscemi as Templeton the Rat, (I loved the rat!), Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer make great geese. Rheba McIntyre gives the proper color for Betsy, the Cow, and Robert Redford portrays, Ike, the horse, with enough steadfast cynicism. And John Cleese is proper and right as the sheep. Dominick Scott Kayes played Wilbur, Julia Roberts makes us believe Charlotte is beautiful. The Special Features are excellent - I love finding out how they made the movie.Read full review
Stars Dakota Fanning as Fern along with tons of REAL animals (the animals are real mixed with computer animation like Charlotte/Spider and Templeton/Rat). This is a darling update of the well-loved children's classic by E.B. White. Some new characters including two crows, along with funny farm animals voiced by a wide range of Hollywood funny people (geese are my personal favorite). Story Basics: Young girl Fern lives on a farm set in a 1960's looking town. A litter of pigs is born; she sees her dad with an axe walking to the barn, she saves the runt piglet from being killed. She names the runt Wilbur and keeps his as a pet, sleeping with him, taking him to school, giving him a bath in the sink. After time her father deciedes she can no longer keep him in the house, so he is sent to the Zuckerman's farm across the street. He makes new friends with the other farm animals and a special spider names Charlotte. He learns his fate - "spring pigs do not see winter's snow" - he will be Christmas dinner. Wilbur saves Charlotte from being taken by a naughty little boy so Charlotte vows to let Wilbur see winter and not be dinner. She writes words about Wilbur in her web, 4 total. Ending of the movie takes place at the fair where Charlotte stays behind to die but leaves Wilbur her egg sack containing 536 of her children. Three stay with him at the farm. *** My 4 year old daughter LOVES this movie! If you child loves animals, farms and fairs, this is the one for you! Very family friendly. No offensive language. Mentions of death are key to the plot, but nothing graphic is talked about or shown.Read full review
