FLAP SAYS: EVEN WITH THE BLOOD OF two vampires in her system. sookie is having trouble healing from the terrible tortue she endured at the hands of her great grandfather's enemies during the brief but deadly fae war. worse are the emotional wounds especially over the loss of her own personal fairy godmother and the near death of her first love. sookie is hurt and she's mad. just about the only bright spot in her life besides the fact that she is after all still alive, is the love she thinks she feels for vampire eric northman. who is under scrutiny by the new vampire king because of their relationship. first, it was a good book but it ended WAY TOO SOON. i felt like we were riding on a highway going a real good pace, and then stopped abruptly. just stopped. i don't want to give anything away since this is a new book, but it was like vampire vampire vampire, then weres weres weres weres, complete were. and you were left hanging in regards to the vamp story. you were left hanging in regards to pam and sookies actions and other vamp actions. a vamp issue that shows up in the middle that's resolved. but the other vamp issue isn't. i think it's real cool that eric was able to tell sookie his true feelings. i really really really hope they stay together. i think that when sookie hits 30 or so he should turn her (after having a few kids- mentioned briefly in passing) so that they could spent forever together. oh and sookie never did get to the bank that 2nd time. the book takes place over a month. i'm also interested in claude's real motives. and dermotsRead full review
I have read EVERY vampire book and short story Charlain Harris has ever put out on her own or with other writers, 13 books total, Love the Sookie Series but the last two books well A waste it time and MONEY... I guess HBO True Blood series is paying her all the money she needs so she feels she does not actually have to use her brain to write a good book again. So sad... What a bummer, I wish Charlaine Harris had just said I will write a good book next year, A waste of TIME! Sookie took a bath, Claude took a bath, Eric took a bath. Sookie went to work, Eric went to work, Claude went to work. Sam has a girlfriend, Alcide has a girlfriend. If I wanted to read about every body in this series latest DAILY TASK I would have passed on this BOOK. Then most stupid of all Charlaine Harris brings back Eric's maker as a Ancient Roman with his 13 year old vampire lover who is suppose to be Russian Royal Alexei Romanov who he has petafile sex with. The last two books she has put out were for nothing, I am done. .. I loved this series and I guess Charlaine feels she does not have to actually write a good book anymore since she is making money off of HBO! SO DISAPPOINTED!Read full review
I have been a Sookie fan for years and long before the True Blood series. I've always enjoyed every Sookie Stackhouse story from Charline Harris' short stories to all of her previous novels. However this novel lacked everything from a clear direction and plot to Ms. Harris' usual touch of humanity and love. I don't know if the writer has lost her passion for Sookie but this novel sure makes it seem like she has. The story is lost; it's a mix match of short plots, recaps and very little passion. It left me waiting for something big to happen for Sookie but it never did. I'm still a Sookie fan and I'll still order the next book in the series but this was a dud!
I had read all 9 of the previous books in this series, and each one leaves you wanting more. I finally got #10, and it was just as good as all of the rest. When I get close to the end of these books, I actually try to slow down because I don't want it to end. I have seen all 3 seasons of True Blood, and if anyone has seen the series on TV and hasn't read the books, do yourself a favor and get them. There is a perfect balance of what happened in the books and what HBO changed. Now that I have seen the show I find it even more fun to read the books because the casting couldn't have been better. Now I can picture Anna Pacquin and the rest of the gang while I am reading the books. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this amazing series. I have been an avid reader all my life, and this is the kind of book you can't put down - and when you do you can't wait to get back to it. I read every day and some books are interesting - but Charlaine Harris takes you into the book and you think about nothing else while reading - and you don't want to leave!Read full review
Wow, I was really disappointed in this one!! In Every chapter there where several pages of "RECAP" Okay I can see recapping Previous Books But I'm Reading the book now I don't need a recap on something I just read 10 minutes ago.If you took out all the recaps and nonsense the book could have been summed up in 100-150 pages not 311. Harris was ALL OVER the place. it would have been nice for her to tie up some loose ends. It was like several MINI-Stories with no conclusion?? If you think this will clear up Eric and Sookie's relationship status your Wrong it's another cliffhanger The only thing the story does give is Bill A happy ending and even with that it was never really concluded? I'm a reader that is left Baffled & disappointed.
