Works as it was meant to...deflects direct heat and turns the Akorn into a convection oven/smoker. First time I used it, I smoked some ribs and they were awesome. I haven't cooked a pizza or baked anything yet, but I'm sure it will do fine with that too. A must have if you've purchased an Akorn.

With the smokin' stone, and the air inlet and outlet control, you can fine-tune your temperature for indirect heat and slow-smoking. I threw on a pork butt roast, with some rib rub beforehand, smoked it for 3 hours at 275 and then put in in aluminum foil for another 4 hours. It was AMAZING barbecue. My family could not believe that I made it. HIGHLY recommended... if you have the Char-Griller Akorn grill, this will take it from "nice" to "WOW"
