I recently purchased a new Carr Skylark amp. The combo amp came with a Celestion Type A speaker installed. The Type A was (to my ears) quite shrill and bright with little warmth. Even the bass (what little there was) was not very warm. I changed to a Celestion Heritage Series G12M 8 ohm speaker and it made all the difference. The G12M Heritage is made in England and certainly took the edge off the bright tone and warmed the bass significantly. The Skylark now sounds like I hoped it would at the beginning. I've been told Carr has switched to another speaker and is no longer using the Type A speaker. I totally agree with that decision. I can confirm the Celestion Heritage Series G12M is certainly worth a try if you're looking for a speaker upgrade. For a ceramic magnet speaker, the G12M Heritage rocks.Read full review

Put it in a Fender Princeton Reserve that has a factory 12" speaker and it sounds great, more like a Marshall. Also have a Marshall Origin 50 head and play it through the speaker also (on 20 watt setting) and, guess what, it sounds like a Marshall! ha! Geart purchase!
