This has always been one of my favorite books. This edition has easier to read text with an introduction by the author himself. Book came in excellent condition.

This book actually concerns the time spend by a B-25 bombardier while stationed and flying out of a base on the eastern coast of Corsica, although the author denies that none of the places, characters and events were factual. Actually it is a satire on war, showing how absurd the idea is of men fighting and killing other men. In fact, the men were all members of the Twelfth Air Force and of the 340th Bomb Group. The author was actually a member of the 488th Bomb Squadron. (My brother actually flew several combat missions with the author.) It is an enjoyable read; however, I would suggest that one see the movie (by the same name and on DVD) before reading the book because so many ridiculous things occur that it almost defies logic and can become mind-bongling. ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS!
Book arrived in a few days, no torn pages or major damage. I am satisfied with this purchase. I have started reading it and I think that it is hilarious and similar to what is in the book “A Confederacy of Dunces”.

I am an engineer for Exxon/Mobil and work in the Middle East on a rotational basis. One Month On - One Month Off. Depending on the route, the trip is from 22 hrs. to 28 hrs. in duration. I travel business class so there is always a pop-up monitor and a wide selection of movies but I just don't watch them. I even carried my own portable DVD player for a few trips with short comedy skits but that doesn't exactly work either. I'm an avid reader and always carry at least two hard copy books on board but I've found that for me the very best way to amuse myself and wile away the hours is an audio book, although I never listen to them in any other situation. I have a sepeaate Apple ipod, purchased through eBay by the way, dedicated to this specific purpose. I have read Catch-22 at least three times and I purchased this un-abridged 16 CD audio book prior to trip before last and listened both coming and going. As I recall it was new and the seller received positive feed-back from me. I have a lot of friends and associates who circulate audio books among themselves and I don't know exactly where my copy is now. I just downloaded a novel, also purchased through eBay, by Pamuk, the Nobel Prize winner, that a friend lent me for my next trip. Keep Up the Good Work, Larry HarstonRead full review
This book is on the required reading list for my son's high school Honors English. Many of the books on this list are "girl novels" and it was great to find a "boy novel" included. This book has some raw visualizations about war, but it is an excellent book to read as a stepping stone to deep and profound discussion... especially in light of the current military involvement of the USA. Having the audiobook is a fabulous way to liven up the reading. My son is "reading along" in a paperback while the audio plays. This simply makes the reading experience more enjoyable!!
