If you are looking for a great inexpensive watch that looks like it would cost a lot more, buy this watch! I've owned it about a month now and use it for work on boats. I also use it for counting down the time for our sailboat races starts. Looks really good and has a lot of features. If you're looking for this type of watch, buy it.

I like this watch (how it feels, readability of the time/date/etc) BUT there are 2 big shortcomings that make it a problem. First, the accuracy of the moon day/phase calculation is only +/- 3 days according the instructions ... which is not very accurate at all! And, since the tide calculations are based on the moon day calculations, the tide indications are similarly inaccurate. Second, the moon phase and tide indicators on the display are hard to read in anything other than a perfect light condition. Not good at all in my opinion. I have an earlier Casio tide watch that is very accurate and whose display is clear ... so they have gotten it right in the past. Net-net, I would suggest finding another tide/moon watch if that function is important to you ... as it is to me!

This is the third Casio watch I have purchased. I had the first one for several years when the battery went dead. It had a heavy scratch which I caused while working with concrete blocks and I noticed the band was getting old. After researching the cost of a new battery and a new band, I determined it would be cheaper to buy a new watch, so I did. I have also purchased a stainless steel model with the same features for when I want to look a little more dressed up (I have received many compliments on this watch). These watches have features only found on much more expensive watches. I set the tide and moon phase features for my specific area and they are always very accurate. Speaking of accurate, I set all the clocks in my house and my vehicles to match this watch because time and time again it has proven to be more accurate than any of the others.Read full review
If you live near a coast, surf, fish, walk the beach or like to be outside at night this is a fantastic deal. It shows the tides, not in great detail but enough that you know whether it's high, low, rising or falling. And as that's based on the moon, it shows what day of the lunar cycle it is. 14= full moon, 1 or 28 = new moon. There's also countup and countdown timers. Not the most stylish watch, but Rolex doesn't make a watch that shows tides or moon. Excellent battery life (they quote 10 years and I think it was about that). I got one of these ten years ago and rather than replace the battery I just replaced the entire watch. I check the time at least once per night with the light-up feature and have been amazed at the battery life.

Considering what is out there regarding watches suitable for racing, particularly where a count down timer is necessary eg sailing, you have to pay a lot for a basic watch with a moulded band that breaks after about 40 wears and it's not repairable, sits in the drawer for years as the battery happily ticks along. This watch is perfectly fine for racing and the band can be replaced giving it a life that will match the battery and it doesn't cost the earth like other big yachting names will charge. It also has some interesting features like tidal and direction if you are into gimmicks but watch works fine if you don't understand it/don't program in you longitude etc. Yes it looks a little 80's in design, but do want a sports watch or a fashion accessory?
