The amp was sold for parts or repair, but the only thing wrong with it was the speaker relay had damaged contacts on one channel. With a new relay, the amp works perfectly. My only complaint is that the speaker connectors are a bit flimsy, otherwise I would have given the amp 5 stars.

The Carver significant upgrade from the Onkyo M-282, for about the same price. Very easy to overlook its missing a foot! There's really not a comparison. More clarity, depth and space. The Carver C-16 seems happier too, with the new family member.

The Carver TFM-6CB is a best kept secret among amplifiers. Thus is a very versatile amplifier and shines in HT applications and really shines in distributed or whole house systems. I use 2 TFM-6CB's in a whole house system where they perform flawlessly. The Amos are clean, have good dynamic headroom and pack plenty of punch to drive in wall, bookshelf and outdoor speakers to a good high listening level when required. The amps run cool and don't require fans in mist applications. They handle 4 ohm loads well, have output disconnect relays, can be bridged to 200w at 8 ohms. The TFM-6CB is also well suited to drive compression drivers for mid & high frequency applications. The Carver TFM-6CB is a great amp and can be often found on eBay for under $100.00.
Packs a punch for so small a unit. Heavier than you might think just looking at it.
