My daughter who is 13 did her home work and asked for this camera for Christmas. It is so user friendly that she has no problem taking great pictures with it. She has taken some very pretty macro shots as well as some nice wildlife shots at our local animal park. The shutter speed and image quality are excellent. The operation of the camera is very intuitive. From top to bottom this camera is ideal for the non-professional. The package has everything needed to get out and enjoy photography as a hobby. Everything in the package is useful and practical. We have all seen the packages where half the stuff is useless but in this case that is not true. For the person who wants to snap family shots, sports, and shoot some creative stuff but not quite ready for a DSLR this camera system is ideal !!Read full review

Nice to have a zoom range this great, and the size makes it a potentially nice carry around all-in-one. For the first part to short telephoto the clarity is excellent and the images very usable. However, the focus is both sluggish and often labile; the longer the zoom the more labile and sluggish. For the long zoom the light fall-off is quite striking and with any limitations the image gets very "grainy". I found a hand-hold at the long length (even in good light) a little tough but steadying against a firm object workable; a tripod better. The wifi aspect is an excellent concept, workable, but slow (possibly my wireless, but the network speed goes at 100mps) and I found a direct read off the card much easier/faster. I always put a filter on lenses, and this lens needs a snap on filter adapter for a 67mm, and i was skeptical but it works well. All-in-all a reasonable carry around, especially for a hike where equiptment can be overly cumbersome. Might be a bit touchy to get a quick long shot (e.g. bird on tree) because of the focusing "find" speed, but once "on focus", it's not too bad, may take some (more for me) practice.Read full review

This camera is a nice step up for an amateur photographer wanting to learn more about digital photography. It has a nice auto setting, but it doesn't always produce the picture you want in certain situations. I've been learning as I go about the different manual features of the camera and how to produce the shots I'm looking for. The biggest problem I have is with close up photos. I think I need to get another lens attachment for that. I do get good shots, but pictures come out blurry more that half the time. Probably me and not the camera!

I haven't had a chance to use it very much because of traveling. When I arrived at our vacation location, I did use it to take a couple of photos and about 6 short video clips, all in low light. They all came out excellent. This camera has great low light capabilities - much better than my older JVC camcorder. I didn't say Yes on the "Is it easy to use" because the button to access the settings and photos/videos is so small it is way to easy to get to the function you want. I will be using it more in the next few days and testing all the features, such as downloading to my computer, uploading to Face Book, etc. Then I can come back and give a more realistic rating. So far, I'm satisfied.

My wife is going on a cruise to Alaska and she wants a camera that is compact, easy to use, and has a long telephoto. This camera has all of these features with benefit of excellent image quality. The battery is long lasting. Most of the items included in the accessory kit are useful.
